Celebrating Women in Hockey
March 10, 2024, was a special night at PPG Paints Arena as the Pittsburgh Penguins faced off against Connor McDavid and the Edmonton Oilers. But the game wasn’t the only highlight—it was Her Hockey Night, a celebration of women’s contributions to the sport and the community.
For me, the evening was made even more memorable as I had the privilege of co-hosting with none other than Celina Pompiani. A Penguins legend in her own right, Celina spent nine seasons as the team’s in-game host, witnessing two Stanley Cup championships during her tenure. Her energy, charm, and undeniable presence made her a fan favorite, and it’s easy to see why she’s considered one of the best in the business.
Before the night, I didn’t know much about her hosting style, but meeting her was a revelation. Celina’s warmth and professionalism made sharing the stage with her not just an honor but a true learning experience. Her ability to engage the crowd and connect with fans was inspiring, and it left me eagerly looking forward to future opportunities to collaborate.
A special thank you to Celina for helping bring so much fun and energy to Her Hockey Night. Her passion for the game and effortless charisma set the tone for an unforgettable evening. She made everyone feel part of the celebration, and I couldn’t have asked for a better partner to share the stage with.
The Penguins went above and beyond on this special night, making charitable donations to women-owned organizations throughout Pittsburgh. It was a powerful reminder of how hockey can unite communities and amplify meaningful causes.
Here’s to many more Her Hockey Nights and to continuing to honor the incredible women who make our sport and community better every day.
